Approach
My style is warm, engaging, and collaborative. From our first contact, I listen deeply and compassionately to understand your unique needs and struggles. Through thoughtful, nonjudgmental clinical discussion, and targeted questions, I clarify the challenges, symptoms, or areas where you feel stuck. My approach to assessment, goal-setting, and treatment planning is both analytical and comprehensive, ensuring that together, we create a tailored path forward.
During treatment, I guide clients toward symptom relief, developing insight, and achieving cumulative short-term improvements that lead to lasting change. I excel at analyzing patterns and breaking down complex issues for your understanding and reflection. I practice from an integrative approach of evidence-informed theoretical models, cultural competence and humility. This includes psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral (CBT), emotionally-focused (EFT), trauma-informed, exposure (ERP), mindfulness, acceptance commitment (ACT), and resilience and strength-based modalities. I am adept at assessing and highly-customizing the best approach for you.
In the room together, I am caring and open-minded. I also directly challenge, question, and motivate clients. I listen to perspectives, but offer necessary alternative and novel perspectives to propel you in making progress. I make actionable recommendations and equip you with the skills, strategies, and solutions needed to enhance your sense of self, relationships, and overall quality of life and satisfaction. Throughout our work together, I create a safe and trusting environment for meaningful, lasting growth.
In working with children/adolescents and families, I provide a blend of play-therapy, talk-therapy, and utilize appropriate approaches such as CBT and mindfulness skills. I work with parents and provide support, coaching, parent-child therapy or co-parenting coaching and mediation as appropriate.
I provide services virtually as well as in-person in Burlingame, CA (accessible via public transportation, close to El Camino Real, 101 and 280 highway exits).
I am bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese.
